| Recently Yoko Narahashi has become very popular as she has been involved as a casting director in Hollywood films such as "The Last Samurai", featuring and produced by Tom Cruise. She has also worked very hard to support the Academy nominated actor, Mr. Ken Watanabe in developing his English skills. |
ETD is a way of teaching English based chiefly on the principles of acting based on the method created by Stanislavski and Lee Strasberg. The trademark of the Drama Method® has been registered and the method is recognized
as the only method to teach English through Drama in Japan.
The Drama Method® is based on two key points, "Talk & Listen" and "Pinch & Ouch." Talk & Listen means to carefully listen to what the other person is saying and giving a reply. Pinch & Ouch means the harder the pinch, the bigger the ouch: or developing ones ability to react to what is being communicated in a natural way. We believe that learning a language should be an experience in communication, not memorization. Obviously, if all parts of the body, mind and heart are involved in this learning process, knowledge will be truly acquired and understood. This sentiment is best stated by the old saying:
Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn. |
| This involvement can be most effectively achieved through drama or more specifically working with the techniques of drama. By employing the basic principles of drama, MLS creates an interactive environment that completely involves the students, allowing them to experience the language. |
| Currently MLS operates 33 studios in and around the Tokyo area including Chiba, Yokohama, Saitama and Kanagawa. The Head Office is located in Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo. |
